Have to ask, even if this is going to piss off some Kyrenians. Does the Kyrenia district produce wine? Since when?

According to good vineyard practice the southern slopes are the best regions to plant vines. The southern slopes of the Pentadaktylos range are too arid or too rocky for vines. What quality wines do they get out of that semi desert?

I don't know of a local wine here near Kyrenia, but I am not a great wine lover anyway - so havent really looked. One of my favourite wines is the sweet commandaria wine from the South!! How much does it cost there? Here it is 28tl which is about 16 euros I believe.

Tess,

I come from the north and do not remember any vineyards there. There were some in Lysi village, in the Mesaoria plain but these were table not wine grapes. The classic wine growing area was between Limassol and Paphos, the area with white soil, gentle south facing slopes. Commandaria is made around there too.
