When you sit on the runway at Heathrow the clever GPS thing says it is 2002 miles to your destination (Pafos). Mind you, they often take longer routes to avoid Air Traffic Control costs…

Milti just get in your car and drive for gods sake...I often drive to Sydney no stop...

I drove to Sydney from Melb and back non stop within 20 hrs....roughly 2100 kms

another time Melb to Surfers, QLD, 2200 clicks non stop, well only fuel stops...

I love driving, and even more when on my own, no passengers...

There is just the small question of the English Channel and the Aegean Sea in the way…

Gatwick to Larnaca is about 2034 miles, so devide by 5 multiply by 8 gives 3254.4 kms.

I often wondered about these mickey mouse prices some airlines charge to fly London to Cyprus, one quoted £1300 for a 10 hour flight with a stop over in Budapest!

Then I found out some airlines are flying empty planes out of London Heathrow just to keep the flight "slot" until something turns up.

If they carbon taxed airlines on whether planes were full of passengers on take off, prices would drop.

Rant over. Pub!

Nice trucking Boom

A few nights ago I looked again for the Piraeus - Limassol Car Ferry. Still suspended but I hear it may run this summer. I would so like to do this to get away from these damned airline rip-off merchants.

Airlines are in a world of their own ! They know that if you want to fly to a destination at a specific time when every one else has the same idea , they will charge the earth. British Airways , and you can check this out www.britishairways.co.uk , are charging £600 one way on the 20th March and £717.60 returning on March 26th.
What I find annoying is that another airline is charging less than half !!
If my web site , www.devonscatering.co.uk was charging twice as much for a kilo of Cyprus potatoes for example , then I would want to do something about it. These Plonkers who run BA , frankly don't care !!
Yet they still manage to survive because of that name BRITISH............
