The Yin of Turks and the Yang of Cypriots .....

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The Yin of Turks and the Yang of Cypriots .....

Postby Oracle » Sat Mar 08, 2008 7:26 pm

Whilst looking at a map of Cyprus, with its curving scar, the "Attila Line" ..... I was reminded of the Yin-Yang symbol.

The dark, negative, bad force of the Turks in the north and the light, positive, good Yang of the Cypriots in the south.

No doubt we are opposing forces.

But just as in good there is always a little bit of evil, in evil there is always a little bit of good ...

How can we tap into the "good" bit of the Turks? .... and make them realise the Golden Rule of Confucius:

"What one does not wish for oneself, one ought not to do to anyone else; what one recognises as desirable for oneself, one ought to be willing to grant to others."

Why does Turkey do to others, what it does not wish others, to do to it?

What can we do to make Turkey see the light?

Well kikapu the week I decided to change into GC mode, things got quiet in the "Cyprus Problem" section. So it wasn't very constructive. But if I had to comment on my experience on the forum since joining, I can say that it has changed me. The forum has helped me control my temper, ( Phoenix helped a lot in this department  ) I also got a chance to view the problem from different perspectives. Now I think that I am able to communicate without getting too attached to nationalistic ideologies. In the end I am happy to have had the privilege of interacting with everyone on the forum.

NO celestial connotations here ... all very Earth-centred.

What is so unusual about seeing the possibility of a little "good" in Turkey? ..

Trouble is tapping into what it is...

The easiest way is to ask what Turkey wants, plain and simple, in exchange for removing its troops from Cyprus, and thus showing its goodness ..

Phoenix the entire dispute is NOT about, the troops going back. The troops are part of the equation but, they are not the problem itself. The problem in Cyprus is purely political. If the only reason was troops why didn't the GC's vote "Yes" to the annan plan which saw the decrease of troops to a mere 650 in a few years.

coz Umit we want nothing to do with a fascist state...

The dynamics have changed...the RoC is in the EU now, something that you are unable to understand, even though kikapu tried to explain it to you...

The Roc is in the EU and a sovereigh country and wants to keep it this way...

Join me and say yes to a true federation with a true democracy

Whatever you say ... the A-plan did not guarantee troop withdrawal and certainly not within a realistic time-frame...

The Entire solution rests on the Turkish troops going back ....

Looks like we differ on the basics ....

Umit ,
some how they never talks about Greek Troops from Greece my friend. No one talks how many they are in Cyprus .Very simple one they have 26 generals in the Greek Cypriot army .they are officers are from Greece mate . With normal army forums if you have 26 generals in the army .... let them calculate the amount of the Greek troops in Cyprus.
Very soon France will take presidency of Cyprus , İt would'nt be suprise if they gives a military base to France . They were talking lately.....

when right times comes all troops will go ....... greeks , turks , british....
only limited numbers will be here ..... we mustn't play with ourself .İnternational treaties are there.....
