What went on between the 20/7 and 14/8 1974?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

For those that talk about reinforcing of the GCs by mainland Greek troops. Please remember that it takes 48 hours for a ship to sail from Piraeus to Cyprus and more than that if it sails from other ports like Patras or Thessaloniki. So this 48 hour reinforcement is a pile of crap aimed at the ingorant. Give it a rest.

At that time Greece had no transport planes either.

PG above has a point when he says that the Greek side accepting the 34 per cent with the population in place was a risk Turkey did not want to take. The presence of GCs in the north was never part of the Turkish plan, and that is about as close a definition of ethnic cleansing as anyone can find.

Mainland Turks like the journalist Mehmet Ali Birad have no problem stating that the secong Attila operation in Cyprus was a mistake and its results morally wrong, yet you still try to excuse the inexcusable and still claim you are Cypriots.

What you come across is as professional propagandists for the most reactionary section of Turkey.

last comment goes for you as well if you want to look at it like that....You will not acknowledge the facts of the matter...I did not say that you were to blame for everything as you do to us....Shit happened but the fact that the intention of the GCs was to take all power away from TCs and that is exactly what happened just three years into the contract and is the situation today does not seem to bother you one little bit but the partition does....Funny that. Both the partition and the illegal "RoC" bothers me but we cannot have one without the other. The fact also that some of your own presidents have highlighted the wrongs against the TCs does not bother you either and you throw in a few names from Turkey to get my juices flowing  The ethnic cleansing that happened in 1963-74 does nothing for you either???

Restoring constitutional order could have gone something like this:

Turkey invades, arrests all those responsible for intercommunal violence and puts them on trial. It declares new elections, excluding members of the old regime. The new government follows the constitution of 1960 to the letter. Turkey withdraws with honor. It did not happen like that and Turkey has no more honor than the Greek junta psychos who thought they would extinguish communism through torture and murder. They belong in the same garbage can.
