Lower paid.
Little or no help at home.
Raising children.

A woman's lot in Cyprus:

They are revered and respected, as the weaker sex who must be protected .... but obeyed.

They receive help from other relatives such as parents ... much more so than in the UK and many other westernised countries.

Raising children is a duty assigned to them by nature, because they are the ones lucky enough to have all the necessary accoutrements ... same for women the world over.

Cypriot fathers certainly "treasure" their daughters as my father did to my great privilege ... and that helps Cypriot women grow up happy, healthy and wise!

No doubt about this purdey .... the majority.

I have a great deal of interaction with women in my village and they would not have things any other way.
:D

Even if the pay was lower, it just means it's less of a hardship or consideration when they want to give up work / go part-time, to raise children.

You are the product of an American up-bringing. Many unhappy seeds have been sown which colour your outlook.

BTW: We don't have to go down this road if you would rather not GG .... just say! :)

no unhappy seeds at all! i am happy and proud to be who i turned out. my parents did a great job with me. i would rather be who i am than who i could have been raised the way you described.
but you are right, no need to bring up my upbringing. i wouldn't want to ruin your thread.
