Thanks Observer.

I knew I was wrong somewhere. My maps are at home.

I don't know when you last visited Cyprus, but there has been so much building along the north coast to the west of Kyrenia that it is difficult to tell what is where. It's almost just one long town until the road turns inland to Merthou/Camlibel.

My brother in law owns a huge amount of that land on the coast leading out west from Kyrenia.

I hope his children will not be disinherited from what is their right.

Why just his children Deniz ... why not the owner receive his land back now .... :?

Many thanks Tim.

One quick browse through my 'Original' Ottoman Redhouse printed in 1890, Constantinople, lends me to believe that the contents are 38% Arabic, 44% Farsi and 18% pure Turkish. So no surprise there. Of course this is a guestimate.

Deniz

More Farsi than Arabic? That surprises me.

That was a very fast guestimate. The Qamus is three inches thick. I wasnt going to count. At that I wouldnt be surprised. The Turk from Central Asia came accross the Persians before the Arabs. If you are will ing to do a count then... unless we find something on the net?

I have no ulterior motive in saying that. As a Cypriot we always say everything is for our children. Ofcourse, sooner the better. The less OrPhs we have the faster we will sort this mess out. Right?
omg, I am replying to OrPh. Sorry just kidding.

Letsd hope the leaders on both sides do the right thing for the people of Cyprus.

Bitter oranges, Oracle, are you referring to Kitromila? That is how I know it in Cypriot, and it is the stuff they call nerantzi in Greek and my English friends call them qumquat. Or are you talking about the big yello fat skinned ones they call Frappa?

Question for you biologists. If acid denatures protein, what happens to pork in Zelatina which contains one glass lemon juice, one glass kitromilo juice and half a glass of vinegar? That must denature the hell out of the pork!

You need a food technologist. I'd say that concoction would ease digestion. It will be doing the job (or beginning)to do ) of the stomach acid (HCl). The rest is a matter of taste.

I think Deniz is leading the questions on oranges .... BTW: We use Kitromila for Glyka only.

When you cook proteins you denature them, similar to adding acid. So the meat is denatured by the cooking and the lemon.

Boiling an egg, denatures the protein to a solid.

Acid to milk, denatures the casein to produce anari (cottage cheese).

I think there are two basic kinds of protein in meat, collagen and elastin, the latter is not affected by cooking
