This seems to be a familiar theme on most topics.
Are the British misrable,do you hold the British responsible for the division of Cyprus.
Are tourists and ex pats welcome.
This is not a thread to bash Cypriots....

I think the Cyprus love affair with Britain is over.Since entry into the EU Cyprus has started to realise tourism and the British pound are no longer the main stay of the Cypriot economy.
The British bases and troubles with British soldiers do little to enhance the reputation of the British and it's Government.
Personally I have experienced little or no resentment to my dealings in Cyprus, but my Cypriot friends and collegues do now express views openly with negative reference to the British.

Purdy,
Agree with most of what you say but I would also put it the other way around and say that Britain's love affair with Cyprus is over. Fewer than ever are coming here now that they have better & cheaper places to spend their hard earned cash on holiday. As you say, your Cypriot friends now express negative views towards the British and this filters down pretty quickly to the tourist industry. Speak to Britons who holiday here & you will be amazed at the number who feel they have been ripped off.
I personally think that we should hand the bases back and let the Greek Army take over their role in spying on the MIddle East. That way, the Cypriots would be happy and the Britiah taxpayer wouldn't have to foot the bill.
Sad really.
