I am checking out some chat scripts but it will take some time.

The ones that believe a chat room is needed please reply here so I will be able to evaluate the demand for this.

well, I'm not really sure and as you all know I'm usually not taking part in the Cyprus Issue discussions (for various reasons which I do not want to explain now and here) but I agree with few points that were said before. Of course it would be nice also to talk to the forum members but on the other hand cannedmoose is right that we might end up in heated discussions without having the time to think before one speaks (as you have when writing). So maybe its nice for light chat, as admin said, but personally for the topics that are mainly discussed here I do not believe that its a useful addition.
That doesn't mean though that I wouldn't take part, once its existing and of course depending on the topic. :-)

Just my two cents....

I need to evaluate several factors before I take such decision. So I will need some more time to decide. Until then anybody else that supports the chat room proposal can post here.
