I found Bitter Lemons a reasonably good read but a little condescending. Wonder what Durrell found on his very extensive travels?

@ DT. and AlexISS

The soup was my sticking point for ideas, and even with your recipes requiring 4 lemons, I would have to make about 40 quantities of soup to use them up ... and only 1 member of the household would be drinking it.

@ Sophia1, Sotos, iceman and Kafenes.

Great! This came to mind but I assumed I would need to squeeze each lemon individually (approx 150) so I decided against it.
But many thanks for the recipe Kafenes .... it looks really easy to make so I shall definitely be using some for lemonade.

@ purdey

... Yeah, hubby loves lemon curd .... any chance of a recipe that's tried and tested, otherwise I shall have to Google one, which may not be reliable.

Also, brilliant idea with the pot pouri ... Do I slice them and leave them in the sun or what? :?

@ Michalis5354

The "solution" sounds OK for salad dressing, but your suggestion I drink 200ml makes me a little suspicious, especially as I know what you think of me .... good try!

@ Miltiades

Thanks for the comment ... so you shan't be offered any lemonade when you are over. :P

@ Deniz

@ Karma

There are easier methods a man can use to make himself blind .... 8)

@ bill

:? I dipped into the book but never finished it for the same reasons you were not enamoured with it. I got up to the bit when he moved into the house he bought off the TC.

Apart from the lemonade, the augolemoni, the salads etc you can also put the lemon juice in the freeze and use it when you run out of fresh lemons. Is what we do back home since we have 3 lemon trees that give us lots of lemons. Apart from DT's recipe there lots of other with lemon and meet. One of my favorite is meat balls with rice and lemon juice in the oven ... etc etc.

Also I can suggest to buy couple of bottles of tequila and salt and slices of lemon and invite few friends to help you reduce the amount of lemon in your kitchen

Yup, freezing some juice for the future would be wise ... I was just hoping to avoid squeezing too many.

Also I am getting concerned about how much sugar the lemonade requires, so I don't want to make too much as I would find it irresistible.

And I thought perhaps I could ask for a recipe for Glyko ... using the skin, but that would be more tempting stuff for me to eat.

Purdey's idea of pot-pouri is the only non-edible use.

More non-edible uses for the lemons would be appreciated.
:D

Dry the sliced lemon in the sun.
Back in the morning with a pot-pouri master class.

wash your countertops and your plates and pots with lemon that is a good idea.

roast lamb with lots of lemon and herbs

dehydrate them in sugar, and eat as a sweet.

give some away as gifts with other fruits

stew them with artichokes

grow more trees!

Excellent .... I'll get my mum onto this
roast lamb with lots of lemon and herbs

Don't eat fellow mammals :(
dehydrate them in sugar, and eat as a sweet.

I have to go on a diet :(
give some away as gifts with other fruits

I tried to give some away, but they were turned down .... seems everyone is overflowing with them.
stew them with artichokes

I only like artichokes raw.
grow more trees!

The place is full of them

Seriously ... using the juice as a cleaning aid is an excellent tip. Thanks, RW.
