OYA TALAT INVITES ELSI CHRISTOFIAS

Postby halil » Mon Mar 03, 2008 1:23 pm

Oya Talat has said that she has extended an invitation to meet with Elsi Christofias through the press.

She also said that she will be sending a letter to Mrs. Christofias letter on the issue in the coming days.

Mrs. Talat said that she had called on Mrs. Christofias to work together towards improving relations between the youths of the two communities, to build mutual trust and confidence and to create a favourable atmosphere for peace on the island.

Explaining that she had emphasized the increasing need to cooperate on a basis of mutual respect in her letter, she quoted `Our Island deserves the right to become a place of happiness and peace, love, respect and cooperation will flourish.’

Mrs. Talat also reminded that she had earlier sent a similar letter during Christmas time to the wife of former Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos, Fotini Papadopoulos.

she had received a polite thank you letter from Mrs. Papadopoulos but that no mention was made in the letter about the desire to meet or arrange a date to meet.

I have met Mrs Talat a couple of times, she is a very nice lady, lets see if the other one is. Oracle would never cross over to the TRNC, she would turn into a pillar of salt........................

The reply of Mrs. Christofia should be: "You are more than welcome to come and visit me at our house in Kerinia when you stop violating our human rights and the sovereignty of our country so we can return to it"

Piratis, perhaps the world is more complex than you can comprehend. Come to think about it, why should we talk with the Turkish Cypriots? Any negotiations should start only after the Turkish army goes home, all the refugees return home and the sun rises from the west. The irony of the whole thing is that Piratis thinks he is helping his country with his tough, unrealistic approach.

Bananiot, apparently you are the one who can not comprehend how complex the world is.

"Talking to Turkish Cypriots" is in fact absolutely useless for the solution of the Cyprus Problem. What counts is the balance of power and the various interests of those that can have some influence.

I think that the democratically elected heads of the two principal communities in Cyprus might be said to have just a little bit of influence.
