open all the crossings!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

open all the crossings!

Postby cymart » Mon Mar 03, 2008 12:38 pm

It is reported that Christophias will today propose the opening of ALL the crossing points along the buffer zone when he meets Michael Moller, the U.N. representative and that at least Limnitis should open at the same time as Ledra St.This will put Talat on the spot because even if he wants to,I doubt if Ankara and the military will agree....Any comments from those of you in the north??(of course there is a lot of clearing work to be done first in many places to get rid of land-mines and also repair roads that have been closed for over 30 years. Will the north still insist on passport control booths everywhere and car insurance for drivers from the south etc?If so it will not be very practical to open all the roads that cross the border in the near future)

Clever: If he is doing it to place Turkey back in the guilty chair because they'll never agree to this.

Stupid: If he really means it. The more people pick and choose what they want from both sides the less likely they'll be "dying" for a solution.

eg TC's: I like my EU passport and hospital care
I dislike paying taxes and living with GC's.

Personally I have no problems with this. I am curious, however, to know why you ask if the North will still insist on passport controls and booths. Who are those guys who want to see my documents and make me buy insurance every time I go to the South?

In the buffer zone (the UN bit). Nowhere anywhere near any place you are likely to go. Pretty inaccessible to adults, let alone children.

Don't worry, before you get to any areas that are still mined, you will have been shot way before you find a mine. ;)

And wasn't the 'bombing' a gas explosion, or did I miss something?
