Limassol explosion

Postby Crivens » Sun Mar 02, 2008 11:22 pm

Just got back from Dinos art cafe, where earlier there was a big explosion (around 9pm) just up the street. Really shook the place and cops where all over it for a while. Most of the street is cordened off now. We got let through by a police man to get to our car which was ok. As we went through the cordened off area one place was like totally destroyed with debris all over the road.

A waitress told us that she heard it was a bomb, but no-one confirmed that. Does anyone have any more information? We heard no-one was injured.

Cheers

Reminds me of the old days in Margate, a bad summer season meant two or three "accidental fires" on the seafront. A really really bad season meant no "accidental fires" cos they could not afford to pay the insurance premiums. :D :D :D

above all in limassol

In my experience, this is the most likely place for crime to happen on Cyprus :?

IMHO Limassol is a horrid place and wild horses couldn't drag me there...

Love all of the rest of Cyprus - but not Limassol...

Don't know about the gas explosion. I mean the place was utterly destroyed. Would have to big cannisters.

Well Cypriot police are never shy about calling something criminal if it is. You are right this was an accident by the sound of it.

I don't agree with you however, there is SOME crime in Cyprus, of course nothing like the stuff that goes on in the US or anything but you will get an odd burglary every now and then.

RIKsat news last night said there were three 100 kilo gas bottles in the kitchen of the cafe. You would think that people would put the gas bottles outside and run proper gas lines to the stoves, but no, they prefer to have the gas in their laps.
