£360 Each OUCH!!! Cyprus has always been an expensive destination.

Well done you Purdey for getting those cheaper seats.

I was talking to a lady in Cyprus the other day and she was saying going anywhere from Cyprus is frighteningly expensive.

Because number three son and his girlfriend it seems have run out of money again he can't afford the air fare for his annual pilgrimage to sunny Cyprus.

So at the insistence of the house monster I've paid :( ~ now I would have thought it would have been the same fare whether I paid in Cyprus or the UK
BUT IT ISN'T

They quoted the equivalent of GB£435 if booking in the CY airways office in Larnaca and when I called Cyprus airways in London I was quoted GB£402.

Something doesn't seem right to me with the pricing ~ especially as I'm apparently £804 light in the wallet department ~ it won't be happening next year as it would be cheaper to send the mrs back on a one way ticket.

On a happy note for our two miseries,I booked three seats earlier in the year for 1 month in July for £200 each with my favourite airline Cyprus Airways.

£1300 (GB) for 4 of us in August. Booked 8 months in advance at Xmas on CyA. Night flights as well. Disgraceful prices. As to the car hire rates!

Prices from Cyprus have always been OTT . I have never understood why. I have heard that Airport taxes are higher in Cyprus than the U.K. That could make the difference.

At the time we booked they were cheaper than BA, cheaper even than Monarch.

(Well worth reading the article in the C Mail about what the chap from RyanAir had to say about C.)

Hello Guys
Just wanted to say hello, and we will be over in May to spend some time in our holiday apartment we have just brought. Can't wait! About flights, I live in Germany, and flights anywhere from here have always been frighteningly expensive and more often than not it was cheaper to fly to UK with a budjet airline, then onto Cyprus (Yep, crazy, I know). BUT.....not sure what's happening at the mo, but booked return fligths from Munich for June for 197 Euro return, July for 280 Euro return and August for 310 Euro return. Lovely Jubbly! Night flights with Lufthansa, but hey, am happy with those!
Jet2 now also flying into Cyprus, I hear. Mr. Ryanair not happy about airport taxes at Cyprus. Shame, because since he came into Friedrichshafen (Lake Konstanz in Bavaria) there are now 2 flights a day and the tourism has boomed winter and summer here.
Anyway, snowing here, so enjoy the sun
