Yeah .... but does one have more control over the other? :?

If you are genetically "intelligent" ... would you never have to study to improve your intellect?...

Conversely if you were really stupid, how far can you improve with study, in order to fool people you were intelligent?

(No personal comments please, it would be just too easy! )

Aren't IQ tests biased? What is a good indicator of intelligence and stupidity. We've all hear the adage "book smart but not street smart"

Yeah ... I think IQ tests measure only how good someone is at doing those sorts of test ... and you can certainly up your score by practice ...

Emotional Intelligence is far more indicative of intellect ... i.e. "reading" reactions and responding appropriately.

In my case it’s "Nanurture"… a combination of the above. :)

OR

..... because of how, and where you were raised (Nurture)?

I am a blend of both. Period.

Well that obviously makes you the unique individual we know and love ... :D

......but is there no conflict or battle for dominance by one side over the other?

Are your genes placid enough to share power equally with whatever the environment throws at them?

What if the environment changes ... how adaptable are your genes or are we likely to see a partition at the first adverse sign?

Dearest. Shall I give up on you? You still read and not understand. Ayni hamam, ayni tas. (same Turkish bath and the same water cup.) you would not understand that either.

OK .... according to the world famous cognitive psychologist (+) Steven Pinker, we are wired at birth and all our interpretations of environmental influences are due to how we perceive the world according to how we are programmed by our genes.

The only saving grace is:

"Man will become better when you show him what he is like" ... Chekhov

So you are whom you are from birth

Actually I think that there is a lot of truth in that. Having lost my Mum to cancer when I was 13, a Dad unable to cope, I was in council "care" and then seperated from my sibling into a foster home. The environment could have easily turned me into a drug taking, granny bashing individual, or on the "game" etc etc but it never did. I studied hard, had a good career etc etc...............even though some of my most impressionable years were spent with young runaways, drug addicts, etc.
