Did you know that a study of people's names, found that personality was affected by how popular / likable was their name ....

I guess that would fit under Nurture then ....

.... so no genes controlling your temper threshold for example?

An even temperment is a product of my environment, growing up in NYC in the late 70's and early 80's. You had to learn when to fight and when to run

Only stabbed once and survived.

Natural Selection and breeding has eroded the dog gene pool...I'd like to know how many dormant genes humans have? Albeit, at football matches many people would argue our animalistic caveman genes rise to the surface.

DNA is a beautiful thing...we should also be careful not to f..k with mother nature as you never know what might happen.

Well that obviously makes you the unique individual we know and love ... :D

......but is there no conflict or battle for dominance by one side over the other?

Are your genes placid enough to share power equally with whatever the environment throws at them?

What if the environment changes ... how adaptable are your genes or are we likely to see a partition at the first adverse sign?

Yeah .... but does one have more control over the other? :?

If you are genetically "intelligent" ... would you never have to study to improve your intellect?...

Conversely if you were really stupid, how far can you improve with study, in order to fool people you were intelligent?

(No personal comments please, it would be just too easy! )

Aren't IQ tests biased? What is a good indicator of intelligence and stupidity. We've all hear the adage "book smart but not street smart"

I think we only have about 30,000 expressed genes ..... much more DNA is "junk" and not active. Although it can serve to mop up environmental hazards like radiation ...

Interestingly, there is evidence to suggest that some environmental changes (i.e. not genetic) can be passed on to offspring ...
... like exposure to periods of starvation, makes you have kids that are more likely to become obese ....
