then whats the problem with the common sense/ pre-condition.

I'm serously not following you. If there are no Turkish troops...then what wrong with agreeing to the UN standing there? If there are no Troops there then what was wrong with the original pre-conditions?

No objection to them being there, but my understanding is that the GC proposal is to remove TRNC officials and replace them with UN officials.
And I would point out that only a few days ago someone on this forum was pointing out to me that there were no preconditions on the GC side, and suddenly there are.

I have never seen a patrol drive by either, but I know they do and the photograph proves it. The area on the north side of the gate is a pedestrian area, just as it is on the south side. Very occasionally, I have seen Military Police patrolling the streets on foot, but their job is to make sure there are no problems with soldiers off-duty. I have never seen any problem with what was originally Papadopoulos' demand that soldiers be removed, because I don't think there are any usually there.
My understanding of the precondition is that now it is being said that UN officials are to man the proposed crossing. If it is only that they control it in the way they control the Ledra Palace, then I have misunderstood and I hope you'll come through the gates on a shopping trip soon.
I'm being told to go and buy some shopping myself, so will leave Talat and Christofias to sort it out.
