You will be telling us next that in all your time in the UK you didn't complain about a thing  .

Cyprus has a few problems ~ every country has and Cyprus is certainly no exception.

Cyprus has different problems to the UK and on the whole is a better place to live but you do need a thick skin and broad shoulders plus the ability to turn your back on the things you feel are not quite right.

I could fill at least two pages of things that are wrong with this country but having moved here I'm prepared to accept most and shrug my shoulders.

But then I could also write negatively about aspects of the UK.

There is no Utopia and Cyprus isn't even close

Sadly my wife is becoming fed up and is regretting having moved here ~ it probably won't be long before she insists we go back to the UK even though we haven't yet fallen foul of the more nasty aspects Cyprus can offer.

The change over the last 15 years is so noticeable it's hard to imagine it's really the same place.

The truth is out there lady ~ you just can't see it yet ~ you haven't been here long so I would say you are still basically in holiday mode and haven't quite grasped the reality of Cyprus yet or you are cocooned in a "isn't Cyprus wonderful" false reality .

Wait until you have been ripped off a few times and we will see your attitude change ~ but I doubt you will ever let us know that your countrymen have screwed you over a deal ~~ how could they as they want to nurture and look your best interests as a returning Cypriot .

There are some genuine Cypriots and there are some nasty ones ~ sadly the nasty ones are becoming a greater number .

I actually love Cyprus and I'm willing to accept it warts a all ~ even though sometimes the warts are often hard to come to terms with.

Bill ~~~~ not Cypriot but love Cyprus ~ haven't been ripped off yet but wide awake to the possibility and see Cyprus and Cypriots with open eyes and not just my heart.

Sorry to here the wife is fed up Bill.
My father had an operation in Cyprus two days ago.He was very scared and had not slept for three days prior.
He spoke to me on the phone today,he feels great and has nothing but admiration for the doctors the nursing staff and the treatment he received.
He has a great love for life and for Cyprus and it's people,he maintains when you are in need in Cyprus, people rally round, friends you haven't seen for months are concerned and take an interest.
He feels that has now dissapeared in the UK,maybe he is right ?

Sorry Oracle, i think I have to agree with Bill, the place plays little bearing on wether it is Utopia in one's mind. It's all about the person, if you feel Cyprus is Utopia that is not because of Cyprus, but because of you. Even the people that come to Cyprus looking for a better life often revert back to the lifestyle the once had, as this too is brought with them.

I agree that Utopia is a state of mind... but where else can you have so much freedom for self-expression ... not in rain-soaked, regulation-mad UK!

Your right, regulated-mad certainly comes to mind. Cyprus has already put some regulation. Some regulations are good, but too many are bad. I have to say this was the no1 I had in the UK.
