Community Service

Postby GorillaGal » Thu Feb 28, 2008 2:02 pm

It has come out in a thread that the Cypriots don't generally do any volunenteer work at pet shelters.
from a previous posting, I have also discovered that there are very few-to-none orphanges in CY. I was told you take care of your own.
I would assume that would be the same for old folks homes.
I also asked once about volunteering in hospitals, and was told that is not allowed as well. Judging from the amount of trash i saw on my recent visit, it appears they don't volunteer to clean up thier communities either.

So where do the Cypriots do thier Community Services? Where do they volunteer thier time for a better community?

Good question,I am unaware of any community service.I know Cypriot families who are to busy to look after their elderly relatives, but they do give them a Sri Lankan,or a Phillipino.
I am now awaiting a torrent of abuse.

what is so funny Kafenes? no one has the guts to respond to this thread as of yet. is CY so perfect in your eyes that there is not need for improvement? do you have blinders on?

Don't push me GG. I am generally known to be a very calm and cool person but under pressure I can turn very nasty. Be warned!

I think the short answer is there are none.Cheap labour is shipped in to do the day to day cleaning up,shelters, rescue centres, and charities are run by foreign nationals. The elderly are usually in the villages.

ok, so we now know that kafenes dosn't do volunteer work, but there are a hell of alot more forum members that might have. i wonder who will be brave enough to admit it.

(and to think how many of them think of the americans as lazy sods!)

Hey Purdy,
MAYBE we jumped the gun on this one? I will giev them the benefit of the doubt. i think all teh Cypriots must be off doing their community service. They will tell us about it later, when they have time to log on to the forum.
THINKING POSITIVE!
