Because, there a so many Cypriots on this forum who loath and despise everything British and yet , you can bet your boots that most of them hold a British Passport.

Did you know and this applies certainly to British Passports, You do not own it at all. It remains the property of the Government and can be revoked at any time without warning .

I think all of the Brit haters should stop being hypocrites, if you have a British Passport, Hand it back to the British High Commission.

I have even heard of Cypriot women who become pregnant fly over to Britain and stay with relative until their baby is born in order to get a British Passport for thier child.

My child was born in Cyprus, I was offered a Cypriot Passport for her, I REFUSED it. Politely of course.

Why do you insist on this, GorillaGal? Is it not true that Americans are the highest ranking polluters worldwide? Some silly guilt-driven community service is not enough to repair the damage you do. Are you so thick to not realize that Cyprus is not America? The USA has accumulated one fourth of the world's wealth, Americans live lives so comfortable that they can afford to give more money on cat food than what whole families make in a month elsewhere. Dogs and cats are dogs and cats, they don't need human homes or "love", humans do!

i didn't expect you to donate, after all, you are cypriot, and you are showing your true colors. i did not set up this charity, that helps women worldwide, i merely raise funds for them, and participate in the run/walk. you need to save your money for stool softeners. i can understand why. it sucks when you are so anally rententive that you get constipated.

I am not Cypriot, but that doesn't change anything. Funny how you continue to avoid commenting on how much the average American pollutes the environment. Stool softeners? And that's coming from a citizen of the land of the obese? I have in my lifetime donated to charities much more than I could afford, illiterate tv bred Americans like you are in no position to lecture me, go back to watching Oprah!

I have a British passport however I use my Cypriot one more since it provides me with the same ease of travel especially in the EU. I don't think anyone needs a UK passport these days especially while travelling in the Middle East.

As for all those British passports belonging to Cypriots, when my father and many like him in the 50's was criss-crossing the UK building up govt buildings, hotels and roads you English were too busy being racists at them and making snidy remarks how all this Johnny foreigner does is work. Still they went about their business....worked hard,,,earned their money and left a little something of their lives in the UK. How many times have I heard the story that you'd never look an Englishman in the eyes those days if you were a foreigner.

These people and many from other nationalities built up your country your narrow-mindedness.

And considering the hardships that the UK has imposed on Cyprus over the years and especially in the 50's you're lucky we still allow you into the country and to hell with your Pound Sterling!

Lumping all British in the same bag is totally unfair,there are those out there past and present who resented the influx of foreign nationals but not all.
I faced the same discrimination when I returned to the UK,my accent was different,my skin is browner than most.
I don't dislike or hate those people who gave me a hard time,I just get on with it.

Yes true,I keep forgetting about the EU.I think what I am trying to say is people from all over the world try and get into Britain,for work,food and a chance at living a decent life.
I am at a loss to understand why,I know where I would rather live.

No not at all !! I had quite a few Cypriot friends over in Cyprus, one was a general builder/maintainance man.
In the end he would not accept contracts from Cypriots, because they would not pay the bill. They would have renovations to there houses, pools put in all sorts, but he could not get the money out of them. Not just 1 person but many. He said he would never do work for a Cypriot again. So it is not just the British who are wary .
