Turkish Cypriot President Rauf Denktas stood as protector to his grandson, who gave rise to a scandal by applying for an identity card to the Greek Cypriot Administration. It was Rauf Denktas who gave consent to his grandson.

Rauf Denktas said, "My grandson asked for my consent. And I gave permission.
The Greek Cypriots destroyed the Republic of Cyprus in 1963. My grandson applied to enjoy the EU rights; it is not for the Greek nationality."

The President added, "Up-to-now, I did not say that the ones receiving (Greek Cypriot) identity cards and passports were traitors. If someone proves that I said, he shall come and put it in front of me. If I had said it in the past, it is probably for a different event; we can explain it."

Denktas defended his grandson as follows: "To receive a Greek Cypriot passport means in no way to recognize the Greek Cypriot. It means struggling to regain our EU rights step by step and not letting them seized.

As you see Zan even D's grandson has a CyR passport. ...as for your above comments, none can support them but those who insist on the same stubborn ideas.

Did you not understand what the man said........   I too would encourage all to get their passports and use them...The whole in the wall of the siege has to be untilised...Yo make it sound as if you are doing us a favour.......Try stopping it and see what the EU decide then....Another day another resolution     You have no choice love so stop your bleating...It has been a rod on your own back and you don't like it because it gives us our rights through the back door...Shame!!!

So in this instance YOU recognise the ROC !!

"REGAIN their EU rights"!!!!!!!!!!

The prefix RE- means that they had EU rights in the past and they were deprived of them. But it was the same dude, Dentkash, who was dead against the RoC joining the EU. It is through the efforts and economic echievements of the GCs alone that Cyprus got into the EU and later in the Eurozone. So how can the TCs be RE-Gaining, as opposed to just plain GAINING?

You gotta admit, the man does have a nerve.

Well said Nikitas. Zan lives in his own little world. As Nikitas said it was the GC's that got the country into the EU not the TC's.

Zan for a bloke that lives in the UK your seriously have a warped mind. All the brain washing normally happens in Cyprus not the UK.

I guess you've never has any GC freinds then. Very sad and bitter person. You keep going on about the past but never look forward. One day you may grow up. Havent you heard the saying forgive and forget?

Anyway you carry on whinging as usual.

turkey refuses to listen to eu and refuses to comply with laws and hopes the rest of eu to be like them then wonders why eu wont accept them into the union....

the best thing eu did was not accept the turks, maybe if turkey listened and obeyed the laws the country would have a shot at eu..

I hope that Christofias wil use the same stance Kasoulidis was going to, by saying if turkey does not change its stance on cyprus by 2009 then nicosia will use veto powers to stop turkey joining europe. since the turkish side is doing all this deadline crap to solve the cy prob..

Given that Donktosh ( the XXXL, elder one ) lived in London just after the war presumably he has or at least had a GB passport which together with the RoC and KKTCKQUERTY ones and perhaps even an RoT one to boot, could make as many as four passports.

Actually, poor Zan told as several months ago that he grew up in the UK not liking being a Turkish Cypriot and was ashamed of being one, so it was not only from the Greek Cypriots that he was hiding from, but also from himself.

I think he is OK now.!!

Denktash did wonders for restoring Zan's self confidence back.!!
