Though the deadline is only an approximate one, the Turkish Cypriot side is not expected to allow the new Cyprus talks to drag on into the middle of 2009 and want their completion in the first months of 2008 at the latest, according to Turkish Cypriot diplomatic sources in Lefkoşa (Nicosia).

.... Ooohh .... they are just about over then!

..........................or what??

Is there going to be another "Declaration of Independence".??

If that was possible and legally accepted by the International community with full recognition, then I can guarantee you that the "TRNC" will make sure that the "one year deadline clock" will run out without a settlement.

Did I leave anything out.??

8 JULY IS THE PROCEDURE, ANNAN PLAN IS THE ESSENCE OF THE SUBJECT

TC leader Mehmet Ali Talat stated that in the meeting with Leader of Greek Cypriot Administration Dimitris Hristofyas, they would focus on the general vision, and they would discuss whether a solution is desired or not, and on which basis a solution was desired. Talat also stated that he thought that the negotiations in Cyprus would begin as of the end of April.

TC leader Mehmet Ali Talat pointed out that 8 July Agreement was only a procedure concerning how the negotiations would be, however Annan plan was not a procedure, it was the essence of the subject.

letters, demands and deadlines, the two leaders have not yet even spoken to each other. my first impression is that Turkey is setting this negociation up to have a war. she sets herself up to be ignored, she is ruining Talat's credibility, enentually humiliation will be feigned...sounds like panic, certainly it is an attempt to manipulate.

This is not uncommon before a meeting between the 2 leaders, nothing will come of it guaranteed to be a lot of hot air and no results.
