However he arrives at interview ten minutes late, was dressed in a unironed shirt, dirty trousers and looked unkempt. On appearance only he did not get the job.
I gave the job to a lady who was well presented, who was not qualified and only spoke one language but was prepared to learn another.

Are you stupid? :?

No, sexist...

I am afraid I am one of the boring one's,no wandering eye,or time for other female company...
Why should I feel guilty ?

Well, I don't know

... but for starters you should refer to her as a woman and not a "lady" (even if you are old-fashioned).

I asked about you perhaps having ideas, and you tell me how she would not have such desires ... so you enquired then? :D

How old are you purdey? ...... maybe your eyes might just start wondering at some point ... we are not static creatures. 8)

First impressions.Late, unkempt,no effort made...can I expect any different in the work place on Monday morning?
I always give people the benefit of doubt, but in this instance no effort was made, the other applicants made an effort.

I am fifty this year and so what. Please don't judge me on wether I call a woman a lady or not.
As for my fidelity,I am a married man with a daughter,I take my position in life and with family seriously..

It’s common practice for interviewers to hire less qualified staff than themselves because they’re intimidated by strong applicants.

As the interviewer, all you had to do was tell the applicant that the expected dress code was such and such but instead you chose to hire the goofball that’s easier to manage.

My verdict: Change the interviewer.

Get real-get real,
we would not survive very long in business if we played that game.99.9% of my staff are more qualified than myself, but they could not close a deal if their life depended on it.
Oh by the way it was a panel interview,3 others involved,it is what we call a family business, not all staff are related...
