SOCIAL INSURANCE – OPTING OUT!

Postby Cyprus Vending » Tue Feb 26, 2008 6:51 pm

Hi All

A couple of weeks ago we where informed by a friend that is possible to opt out of paying Social Insurance in Cyprus.

By doing so, you would not be eligible to ANY state benefits i.e. Pension, Schooling, Medical, Unemployment Benefit etc.

As we have NO intention of claiming any benefits here in Cyprus, nor is it worth doing so. We have started to make enquires regarding this, but we seem to be hitting a brick wall.

Has anyone any experience of this?

Ps This months SI bill was €278.79 for Jo and I…

Thanks in advance for your help.

When I worked in an offshore company I stopped paying SI contributions for a few years because of that very same reason. I just told our pay office to stop making the deductions and they did.
