Authorities rule out rumours of direct flights to north

Postby BigDutch » Fri Apr 08, 2005 2:24 pm

"THERE have been no direct flights into Ercan [Tymbou] Airport on the north, it emerged yesterday - despite rumours in the press that some pilots had simply changed flight codes in midair and had flown to north Cyprus without landing first in Turkey."

http://www.cyprus-mail.com/news/main.ph ... 4&cat_id=1

However from this message board contradicting information :

"We met a couple out there over Easter who had been on a flight that, once in Turkish airspace, and not having any passengers to get on or off, decided to carry on through. They said it decreased the journey time by around 2 hours. Have heard of it happening a few times now, unfortunately, never to one of our flights but we can live in hope."

and
"Sunday afternoon 20th March CTA had two flights going, 3 hours into flight captain informed us we wre going direct, landed 40 mins later."

interesting?
