Is animal cruelty in Cyprus the norm.

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Sorry Gorillagal,

I didn't mean to upset you. There is no blood or guts.

The man mimics having oral sex with the donkey then punches it in the snout.

The culprit and videographer both think it's hilarious.

Maybe it was in the North and the GC tourist assumed the donkey was Turkish :? (ok ok I was only joking)

I'm sure they'd be able to find his DNA around the donkeys whiskers for the prosecutors.

How sad that such cruelty to animals exists in all parts of the World and not just South Cyprus.

Those aren't GC's and this wasn't in Cyprus. They speak mainland greek.

they're still a couple of shit-for-brains idiots.

My sincere apologies to GC's and South Cyprus if I got it wrong ... I stand corrected by DT unless proven otherwise.

Wake up! If nothing is done to control the dog and cat population then they become vermin and someone will take it on themselves to do in a rough and cruel way what the state should be doing.

During British colonial days every town in Cyprus had a dog catcher. During the first years of the Republic there was a drive to reduce stray and feral dogs in order to control Hydatid Cyst disease (Cyprus was number 2 in the world for this horrible disease). It seems that now the controls are lax and the stray problem is increasing yet again.

Tying this to nationalities is nonsense. Everyone can be cruel to animals. In the summer of 1971 I worked for stables in England and saw how horses were trained when people were not looking. So do not anyone try to lecture here about cruelty and the treatment of strays.I have been places and seen how others do it. They do it efficiently, quietly and deadly. Then they lie to us about the methods used to control strays or they might go as far as use euphemisms like "humane euthanasia".

The idea that you can neuter animals and then let them roam free increases the problem. A vaccinated spayed dog can still carry Leishman disease and Hydatid cysts. It can still menace passers by and kill livestock and crap on the streets. Controlling strays in the end comes down to killing unwanted animals. In other countries the killing happens at whelping time, hence the saying "if you cannot kill then dont breed" or at well regulated pounds away from pubicity. That is how it should happen in Cyprus and true animal lovers should tell the truth about this to Cypriots.

When there are no strays it is reasonable that the well cared for pets will be liked by most people.

Yes, you might be right on this one Oracle...quick...sweep it under the carpet before we do anything good for the animals.

Relax, as it turns out, this is somewhere in Greece and not in Cyprus.

No problem...especially the way these 2 speak it might as well be 2 different languages. From the accents i'd say northern greece, somewhere around Larissa.

And by the way, why would you only apologise to a specific geographical region of the island? :? wierd.

Sadly these issues are tied to all of humanity and not specific nationalities. It would be ignorant to suggest otherwise.
