Repulsewarrior,Cyprus should 'borrow' some ideas from the Canadian constitutional set up.Divide Cyprus up into autonomous provinces up with their own local legislatures & court systems,but at the same time,have a federal bicameral parliament & courts sitting in Nicosia.

...this is my proposal, and it is based on the highest Principals on which the Constitution of this country was founded.

I think you miss the point,it is not the TC competition,it is the rest of Europe on a larger scale.The South has limited competition from Europe,the North will not be so greedy.
What is attractive is the untapped areas of the North,easy movement to Turkey,and the finest tourist areas,underused and ripe for exploiting.

Why do I get the feeling, that you see a solution only as a two separate states, as in two separate countries. If a settlement is not ONE Cyprus, than where is the settlement that everyone wants. If it's ONE Cyprus, then EU and others will be trading with whole of Cyprus and not just "North or South" Cyprus. If one benefits, we will all benefit, and if one loses, we will all lose.

am just watching an interesting show of the palestinian struggles as they have their country stolen, by Israel..... just like Cypriots have their country stolen from them.

How can Cypriots steal what is already theres?

...may I add that living in Canada has had the greatest influence on my thinking. as a part of a cultural mosaic I am proud to be Canadian, and as a member of a greater mosaic, a greater Family of Man, I can stand in unity as an individual, for the Principals of this country, even if, as a person I have never been anything else but a Cypriot; and I am very grateful to be here.

The world waits with baited breath!! Business throughout Europe,want a quick solution and a opening up of trade to the North.The $ signs are ringing,great investment potential,untapped wealth waiting to be realised.
The sticking point GC business,they will be in competition on a level playing field,the South would suffer !!!

If a solution is found then most of the north will be returned to us because it is ours and the part that will be under TC administration is still owned mostly by GCs. So GCs will have the most benefit from a solution. Maybe you are thinking about partition like Annan plan that gave the north to the Turks??? Thats not a solution! We would be stupid to accept such thing!! How can you call somehting that gives the north part of Cyprus to the Turks a solution??? Thats what we have now and it is called PROBLEM!
