I would say the most important element is that there be a mechanism where TC's can veto, central gov. decisions in predefined fields. Eg : Changing the official Language. As an example this could be in the form as, a majority of TC MP's would have to vote "positively" for a change in the constitution.

The other important point is the "Guarantee" Power of mama Turkey jus tin case GC's get an silly ideas again. This could be in a form which it could be abolished after Turkey enters the EU. When it comes to the number of Turkish troops, I don't think there is need for a single soldier to stay if we work it out.

Hahaha ... good try into yet more fooling the GCs.

Attempt to kill two birds with one stone, huh. Leave us stranded with Turkey again ..... conditional upon her entry to EU ... And since that will never happen, do you think we would accept going back to square ONE? ...

Start assuming your rightful position. You are not calling the shots any longer.

Well Kifeas I really think that after Turkey joining the EU Cyprus will become fully integrated with Turkey she is only 70 Km away. Turkey is the biggest and fastst growing economy in the area economically Turkey will have a big influence on Cyprus in my opinion. If both GC's and TC's will feel happy with the new soln. and get along fine, Turkey in the EU will also be acting like a bodyguard for Cyprus in the area. The important thing is that both sides feel comfortable with a new agreement and neither side see it as a steping stone, like the GC's did in 1960.

Phoenix I think you are quite wrong the EU needs Turkey and they cannot slam the door in their face. If they could they would have by now. Europe at the moment wants a partnership with Turkey but is hesitating on full membership. Europe in the end will get it's act together and start helping Turkey with the reform process.

Umit, you didn't fully answer my questions! You did not cover the second part, regarding what guarantees you can provide to the GCs, in case you (TCs) get "silly ideas!"

Furthermore, what do you mean by saying that "after Turkey joining the EU Cyprus will become fully integrated with Turkey?" Economic relations with Turkey may start from day one after the solution, and before Turkey joins the EU! Why should we wait for this until Turkey joins the EU? What kind of integration is that, which can only happen after Turkey joins the EU?

Those hooded men are on your side Bananiot. It's the people we've been warning everyone about... EOKA B remember? Or do you doubt that they're a prominent and long-term element of DYSI? Had DYSI wanted to they could’ve gotten rid of them by now but alas…
