Stout wrote:The surname KATSALIS is actually a distorted Cockney Nickname and I will explain it to you.

There was a Turk with a very hairy face and he was in business with a Cockney barrow boy in Chapel Street Market, which is in Islington London.

The Turk was caught red handed, trying to nick the week's takings and a serious argument started on account of it.

The rest of the barrow boys in the market were mostly Cockneys, they reckoned the Turk had a face like a "Cat's Aris"..........[ rhyming slang :- Aristotle = Bottle = Arse.]

So the Turk became known as "CatsAris".

When he got to Greece, he found that there were a lot of names beginning with the letter K, he was too well known as a cheat to completely adopt a new name and settled for KATSALIS, which only goes to prove what a tricky bastard he was in the first place.

He still has a face like a Cat's Arse, whether he shaves his beard off or not, he can't lick his own arse, but being a Turk, he will lick anyone elses in order to get what he wants.

I am not amused. Are you the brother of OrPh?

A sense of humour is essential if one wishes to mix with other nationalities.
The British are well known for their ability to laugh at themselves, as are the Irish, the only difference being that, whereas the Irish know when somebody is taking the piss, the British don't, that is why the country has gone down the tubes while those that rule them are having a good laugh at their expense.
Cypriot people are different, they can laugh at good humour, but when they cop on to a piss take, they are quite likely to fight back which is understandable really when you think about it.

Where is the humour in a situation where a man cannot live in his own house on account of the fact that the Turks have grabbed it?......... I think a good kick in the "Aris" is called for mate and NO, I am not the brother of OrPh although if I was, I would be quite proud of the fact that she seems to be among the minority when it comes to straight talking. 8)

Where has your sense of humour gone then. OrPh has got a very good and sharp sense of humour which we all enjoy. We all like a good laugh. The more we laugh the more the 'mother of all jokers' spits out her 'humour'. Keep it up OrPh mou.

Why should a Greek ask you the meaning of his name ?... and why should you think it so interesting to post?

As for the "old lady" reference ... according to your post saying you were born in 1957, that makes you even older than me ........ so grow up.

Can't he or her can ask me any question ?
They asked me and also i told them i will ask this question to my friends in Cyprus .In april they will be in Cyprus . I will introduce them with my GC and TC friends . DO we have to ask you this one as well. Does'nt mean you are younger than me . You are not old lady .....the way you acting proves it you are ........ You don't have to respond to my post. keep your nose out from my way. do you thing i care about your methods too.
cry gocagari cry.......

Halil ... it's wrong to be ageist (as well as illegal in the UK).

Some manners would not go amiss either ... if not for myself (because I am familiar with your ways), then for others who read your references to "old lady" written in such offensive and derogatory terms.

OrPh mou, if you havent noticed, brother Halil is resident in Cyprus.

Fyi, the word gocagari is a very endearing word. Sons often address their dear mums as gocagari. Halil merely made an error when using this lovely word-duo in such a nice way. You owe him an apology. I am serious Phoenix. (for a change)

OrPh, on your own admission, you are here to provoke and (did you say incite TC/T reaction. May I dare suggest that those who play with fire should not whine when they get burnt. Personally I find your comments rather amusing and comic. I really believe you love your compatriot TCs. You are just enjoying this 'game'. Others, for their own reason, see it differently and react in a more different way. On one or two occasions you have managed to rile me when....oh it doesnt matter( I will not remind you, as you might do it again).

Halil is a gentleman with sensitivities. You know that and you take advantage of him. Dont get your fingers burnt. Period.
