It will only take three years for a answer as opposed to 5 in Cyprus.
You will also need contractors names and addresses, local permit documentation, map refrences, photo's,details of your objections...there are a few more details needed, but I think you get the picture.

You forgot to mention that in return for your troubles you get a FREE lump of poisoned meat thrown into your garden… :?

Nikitas thank you for the advice, I was just giving an update and yes, having a moan/making an observation. 8)

The neighbours and landlords are very worried about making a fuss. As I rent I can't really push too much unfortunately.

Pantheman thank you also, very useful info!

I wonder why the landlord and neighbours are worried about making a fuss.Is the builder from Kolossi by any chance ?.Move to the mountains,at least the laws are still adhered to,well almost.
There are some great rentals and sales at the moment (ex pats) moving back to the UK.

In one case of Eurofraud in Greece the EU service sent a team of half a dozen investigators and shook the crap out of the people doing it and put a stop to it. That was after a single letter explaining the situation to them.

In other cases involving environmental problems and complaints we had instant responses and on one occasion it was signed by the Commissioner. If it works in Greece it will work in Cyprus.

Developers push the envelope as far as they can and not further. If no one reacts they will push the envelope quite far.

That would be great! Cypriot developers badly need a wake up call.

Maybe they get away with this behaviour because people don't want to upset anyone - like my neighbours.

But for this to happen someone has to send a signed letter. If the most directly affected people will not then who will?

I wonder about the property buyer in Paralimni (O'Dwyer I believe) who tried to campaign against his fraudulent developers and ended up in hospital after the developers attacked him. He wrote many times and even had a website - nothing was done. Maybe Greece is more aware of these issues?

It seems to be builders the world over. What is needed is tighter control. Hopefully the EU will enforce this control more effectively.

Niki wrote:A piece of land was recently bought near our house that was nothing more than a pit in the landscape, must have been cheap! What did he do?? He hired a huge digger and has removed the top of a large hill full of trees and shrubs and filled the pit with the land from the hill!!!!

We now have a view of a flattened hill which is now half it's original size and we can see many more houses that were behind this hill.

The hill is government owned land and our Cypriot neighbours say to do nothing or we would cause trouble. Is this acceptable or is there someone we can contact to stop any further digging?

Any progress reports Niki mou?
