I believe that with Talat as Turkish Cypriot leader and Christofias as Greek Cypriot leader the prospect of a just and lasting settlement to the Cyprus problem is now a reality. A settlement will in my view give the Cyprus economy a huge boost.

There seems to be panick among the business people I know.I have no idea why,do you ?
Forecast for summer tourism is 37% down on last year, maybe more to do with the British economy rather than Cypriot,or stupid air fares..

Interesting comments, I wonder what the effect will be on the property market. As a country led by a communist will Cyprus be a less popular destination for overseas property buyers, is the boom over?

I do not think the new government will have an effect on the property market.I think the main sticking point is the price of property and the looming recession in the UK.
The main thrust of the property boom have been the British, and their dreams of an island paradise in the sun.

Anyone is waiting to see what policies will be followed. I heard that the successfil Minister of Finance will be replaced . he had some strong disputes with Christofias in the past. Also Some good names like Markos kyprianou and Erato Markoulii have also been mentioned.
