Christofias wins what is next

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Not so long ago it was the trumpets of war and tanks rolling by.
Calm down folks, the only reason elections are held nowadays is so that those who are elected can lay the blame at your doorstep when things go wrong, then they can fall back on the old saying, "It was you that elected me".
Anyone who casts a vote deserves all the shafting they get after it, such a pity that those who have the common sense not to vote will be shafted with them.
The only way forward is to register dismay with the whole kit and kaboodle and not vote, that way the politicians might realise that the people are not happy.
Other than that, same old can of beans.

The only problem with peddling anarchy is that those that don't need votes, will get into power, as the people idly sit back absolving their unhappiness with abstention ...

It may sound cynical, but I believe the objectives of whoever wins an election these days are exactly the same, whatever the future holds for Cyprus, it has already been decided and the people will be led by the nose just as they have always been.
The fact that there is so much bad feeling between the G/C and T/C is the very weapon, created by those in control, which will destroy any chance of peace there.
If you look at the situation here in the U.K. and take notice of all the lies, thievery and corruption among our politicians, how can you expect anything different where you are?.

Christofias said: "We have a vision, we have a history of struggle and contact with the people in our efforts to reunify our country without foreign troops.

Christofias has sent a message of friendship
to 'ordinary Turkish Cypriots' [AFP]
"At this time I want to send a message of friendship to ordinary Turkish Cypriots, a message of a common fight to reunite our homeland so we are in charge of our own affairs without foreign intervention."

Papadopoulos had led Greek Cypriots in voting down a UN reunification plan that was endorsed by Turkish Cypriots in 2004.

That resulted in a divided Cyprus joining the European Union. He was widely blamed for the outcome.

Well this sounds idealistic. It's all up to the TC's now. Of course Talat would find some excuse to come to the party for discussions on a pure unified Cyprus without Turkish or Greek intervention. Lets watch the story unfold as Talat cowards to the Turks.

Your negativity is seeping through already ...

We have made changes ... where are yours?

Hopeful but apprehensive.

We got rid of Denktaş, opened the border, said YES to the only Plan put to the referendum.

I wait with baited breath as to what you say to the next ... fair plan...

“Shall I bend low and, in a bondman’s key,
With bated breath and whisp’ring humbleness,
Say this ... "

William Shakespeare, Merchant of Venice

"Every eye fixed itself upon him; with parted lips and bated breath the
audience hung upon his words ..."

Mark Twain, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

Well ... I did not say "baded" breath, your expression I believe :D

The forum does not usually fall back on Olde English ... so I will stick with the modern yet conformist "baited" ..... as in: have hooked with food 8) .... meaning anticipation!

congratulations to christofias.

though his recent past has prooved dissapointing, lets hope he had good reasons (not ambitions) to overthrow tpap.

if he needs any cement for building peace , we will be here to give him a hand.

we ll just have to wait
