I like Aphrodite ones.

They are all around 2-3 UK pound each. You must try ........

Miltiades , Deniz, Webbo i am sure you will like them . Very cheap and good wines .

Anybody at forum tested ?

Cheers Halil. Is Aphrodite the one made by Keo? I have tried that one but it is a bit too harsh for me. Have not tried your other two!

Seeing as how this thread has gone continental, may I recommend a very good South African red - 'Rockridge' and a good white wine is any Brown Brothers - from Australia.

Bubbles x 8)

No Bubbles,
this one made by TC company at north.

Thanks Halil
I will look out for them if I ever do get North again - or in the supermarkets back home. :)

Funny how many of you are saying that red wine leaves you with a headache. Why is this - and I know it is not the quantity that you drink!

1 Sulfites
2 Histamines
3 Tannins
4 Prostaglandins

Any of the above will give most people headaches. (except me ofcourse)

I suspects the Histamines are the worse offenders, but Tannins are second best.

A nice red is Agios Onoufrios from Kathikas and for a white - Persefoni from Kolios, :) and they appear to be headache free!

Correction, it should be the other way round. Tannins worse than the histamines.

Have any of you tried the shiraz of Yiaskouris winery from Pakhna?

They have an Oak aged version of it and its my favourite cyprus wine!

I can only comment on white wine as red gives me a migraine!
Cyprus- Vassilikon
Greece- Gerovassiliou
France- Alsace Gewurztraminer (heady, aromatic scent)
Australia- Rosemount Traminer Reisling (tropical fruit aromas, lychees, grapey and fresh fruit flavours).
Wonderful, if you get the chance to try these wines do ( I am not sure if the women will prefer these wines more so than the men).

I must also comment that I love a glass ( or 2) of champagne especially Dom Perignon, it's a crime though that my pocket can't afford my tastes!

suzie

You cannot get it now. Yates have gone sooo downmarket

As for the 2 Yates in Blackpool I wouldnt go near them with a barge pole. I still have my own teeth and I want to keep it that way

On a more serious note I find that most whites, even the cheapos are fine so long as they are chilled.

For a reasonably priced Red I usually go for a Chateauneuf du pape around £8 a bottle from all good supermarkets

Glad to hear you've still got your teeth Richard, I don't think you would look very classy drinking without them  Nevermind trying to eat a kebab on the way home
