What's it to you anyway? You don't live here anymore. It's my tax money and I don't have any objections. If you had some fallout with some real estate developer and don't think much of the Cypriots, why do you still hang around this forum?

Don't mean to sound pedantic, but surely if these flights are paid for via the workers tax then every worker who pays tax is subsidising it - yet not allowed to vote - unless they are Cypriot!?!?!? :? :? Please inform me if I have misunderstood, thanks.

Bubbles x 8)

Bubbles, I don't exactly know how these expenses are broken down to. But I presume all government money is tax payers money, unless there is some kind of EU subsidy involved. If you have Cypriot citizenship and are enrolled to vote then I am sure you can. I guess you want to come to the point that you pay tax and are not allowed to vote. Am I right? I lived in Australia for 14 years and worked and paid tax but never got Australian citizenship and never voted. Next you will say, why did your tax money go to funding students from oversees to come and vote, well that's how it goes and anyone who doesn't like it can go and live somewhere else where their tax money goes to better use (I can't think of where right now). :)

Sorry Kafene mou, but I don't see it like that. In my humble opinion, it is just a waste of every tax payers money (whether subsidised by EU or whatever!) that I personally think could go to better use - and not necessarily on animals. In this day and age of on-line voting or even postal votes, I think it is criminal that this money is not put to better use - my opinion and you cannot change it, sorry!
I know countries all around the world have their own rules and regulations, and no doubt several need a kick up the bum too!!

Bubbles, I am sure by next election, electronic voting will be enforced and compulsory voting lifted. Cyprus is not ready yet for this. All in good time (You should have learned this about the Cypriot way of life by now). :)

I hear you, siga siga - nai;

Or even in true Cypriot:'Yali yali' :)

Exactly my point, not every Cypriot treat there animals like you make them up to. There are all sorts in all countries. The figures for abandoned animals in the USA is way too high for the population from what I read. In any case what upset me most was your comment
and they call themselves "civilized"!

Kefenes,
Why keep harping on about cruelty in other countries as if it somehow excuses the Cypriot's their abject cruel ways toward animals in general. What's the point in comparing cruelty in the US or UK when we are dealing with Cyprus.
There are many kind Cypriots as we all know but generally speaking they are a cruel people in that way whereas the population generally in the UK or US has a much kinder & caring approach towards the welfare of animals. I seee cruelty or neglect of animals on an almost daily basis in Cyprus but when I go to the US or UK I rarely see it and please don't tell me it is behind closed doors.

Could you tell me how many stray dogs or cats are there in Cyprus?
50? 100? 1000? 10000? 100000?
You guys are great for sitting behind your computers and critizing others. One person posts something bad about an animal and you all jump in blaming the whole Cypriot nation. In the last 8 years I've lived in Paphos I have never once came upon animal cruelty witnessed personally. GG in the meantime sits at home in the USA and says what she would have done if she was here and how uncivilised we are. Well GG, what are you going to do about it???

i have already said what i would do about it, if i had the financial opportunity. what i did do about it--you can ask JuneMichael. i came to CY with a suitcase full of dog toys and treats for the shelter in Limassol. i made a cash donation, and i came home and got otehrs to donate. we could have donated to shelters right here in teh USA, but we chose to help those less fortunate: the Cypriot dogs.
now what are YOU going to do about it?

Cheshire Cat: It's true this is an English speaking forum and I am speaking English and it is called the Cyprus forum and not the 'Knock The Uncivilized Cypriots' forum. I have never heard you say anything nice about the Cypriots so far, so why bother to come here. Are you trying to unload your bitterness on the general Cypriot? Does that make you feel better? If so, please go ahead and do so. I want you to be happy. :)

GG, I would like to thank you for all the toys you have brought all the way from the US of A to the uncivilized Cyprus for our animals. Please also give a little thought to the 30-60 million stray cats of USA and the thousands being gassed or given lethal injections every day. I personally don't give to any animal charity In Cyprus, instead I give to the children and cancer charities.

And I of course want you to be happy Mon Cher :) The one thing that you have missed that until a certain time, I would have defended Cyprus and Cypriots to the end of the earth, sadly though for some friendship and loyalty are measured in pound notes. I do feel we have lost the thread a little. Have we not ?
Can I just add during my time in Cyprus I did a fair bit of charity work in Cyprus, I did it because I cared not for praise or a thank you but for the love of Children in Cyprus.

Now you're talking, the children and the elders must always come first, they should be our priority.
