As for living in Paphos and not ever having had sight of animal cruelty well you must like many other Cypriots ( I assume you are a Cypriot)
be walking around with blinkers or just refuse to see what is around you.
Or perhaps it is the fact that the two main animal shelters in the Paphos area are doing such a wonderful job that there are no more cases of cruelty or abandoned animals around any more. What do you think Kafenes?

Bubbles, I don't exactly know how these expenses are broken down to. But I presume all government money is tax payers money, unless there is some kind of EU subsidy involved. If you have Cypriot citizenship and are enrolled to vote then I am sure you can. I guess you want to come to the point that you pay tax and are not allowed to vote. Am I right? I lived in Australia for 14 years and worked and paid tax but never got Australian citizenship and never voted. Next you will say, why did your tax money go to funding students from oversees to come and vote, well that's how it goes and anyone who doesn't like it can go and live somewhere else where their tax money goes to better use (I can't think of where right now).

Sorry Kafene mou, but I don't see it like that. In my humble opinion, it is just a waste of every tax payers money (whether subsidised by EU or whatever!) that I personally think could go to better use - and not necessarily on animals. In this day and age of on-line voting or even postal votes, I think it is criminal that this money is not put to better use - my opinion and you cannot change it, sorry!
I know countries all around the world have their own rules and regulations, and no doubt several need a kick up the bum too!!

Bubbles, I am sure by next election, electronic voting will be enforced and compulsory voting lifted. Cyprus is not ready yet for this. All in good time (You should have learned this about the Cypriot way of life by now).
