Cheshire Cat,
Can't imagine why can you? It's an emotive topic at the best of times.

Just to let everyone know....
I will be posting some facts & figures about "PAWS" dog shelter over the weekend in order that you can see just how much joint effort is required in running such a place. Don't forget please that this is a charity which has no paid members at all. :D

I doubt if anyone can Bucksboy , unless they have been on the frontline dealing with the fallout. It is a shame that the brave ,compasionate people of Cyprus can not pull together on this.

GorillaGal wrote:as Bucksboy pointed out, and as i did as well, early on in this thread, i find it appauling that not one cypriot can find one day a week when they could donate a few hours to a pet shelter to help them out.
the shelter i visited was all british and russian volunteers. and it seems like the only comments i read on this forum about the russians is that they are all working in the caberets and prostitution buisness. this is just an observation.....
also, according to this forum, the cypriots take care of thier own, so there seems very little need for orphangaes or, i assume, old folks homes.
makes me wonder if cypriots do any volunteer work at all. or where they would do it? PLEASE DO TELL CYPRIOTS! Where DO you volunteer?
ok, so your lives are too busy at the beach and with your families to volunteer....
i believe the Bucksboy has listed the info to donate money to the PAWS pet shelter, and this is the Limassol link to JuneMichael's shelter: http://www.cypruscatrescue.co.uk/
please contact them, or the PAWS shelter, and donate today. money or time, it's all good.

GG, many of my Cypriot friends do a lot of volunteer work, mainly for cancer charities, though one or two do help with animals too. I may be wrong but a lady called Diane (anyone confirm?) has a shop in Limassol and she is a great ambassador for animal welfare - she has rescued/rehomed hundreds in her time. She too is always looking for helpers....................
