Come on you Cypriots....show us foreigners that you care by actually DOING something constructive!!

Why do we have to do it all?

Unecessarily patronising and insulting post.

Cypriots care as much as any other nationals do about animals.

They just care MORE for other issues, children, elderly, sick and refugees .... and therein lies the contrast which you fail to grasp.

Cypriots do not have to prove anything to any foreigners.

This thread has gone way too far in anti-Cypriot racism and Admin should ameliorate.

But Oracle,
This is a post about animal cruelty and nobody is suggesting that anybody else does not care about other issues.
It is not patronising by any means and is certialny not anti Cypriot or racist. The fact remains however for all to see that animal wefare in Cyprus is basically funded and run by foreigners.
In all of my 10 years voluntary work in Cyprus at the dog shelter (which is well know to Cypriots...the shelter I mean) there has never been a Cypriot worker/volunteer. If, as you say, Cypriots care as much as other nationals about animal welfare, why do we have the situation we find ourselves in as above. It would be my dearest wish to have locals helping me and all the other volunteers at the rescue centres. This is a plea for help in assistance so how can this possibly be seen as insulting.

No dear CyprusFrankgrump... 8)

.... if I set about addressing an opinion with which I differ, that should not be taken out of context.

It affects nothing else. It is an isolated point.

It is merely the counter-view to balance what I considered an inappropriate post.

An effort to stop the bandwagon parade which feed on any opportunity to further join in with the Cypriot-bashing.

Bucksboy ... nothing personal. :D

Cyprusgrump,

I fail to see why anybody would be offended at such a request.
And no, I guess we will be on our own still for another 10 years of rescue work.
Can someone explian to me WHY Cypriots will not help at animal shelters?
And please don't come back and say their priorities are with more important things.

Oracle,
Wasn't offended :D

If what bucksboy said was Cypriot Bashing, when Cypriots say similar and sometimes worse is that Brit Bashing ?

Maybe the New President of Cyprus would like a photo Opportunity in visiting the PAWS shelter. Could Be Good PR.

There is no harm in sending him a letter.Plus one or two to the local media.A few to the EU,might give you some more leverage.
A few hundred posters along the sea front might get you noticed..

The posters along the sea front could be pricey, this is a charity . It is a shame that all the years I was in Cyprus I had not known about the rescue centres for the dogs, We knew about the donkeys at Vouni and went up there regularly to feed the donkeys, buy stuff and make a donation.
We would have loved to have helped out ourselves,
