Purdy,
I know the place well and what a grand job the Brits and others do there.
If you are in Paphos sometime take a look at the new "PAWS" dog shelter near Paphos Airport and again what fantastic work the foreigners (mostly Brits) do here in Cyprus to care for the Cypriot's abandoned and mistreated dogs. Why can't they do it themselves?

The Cypriot Goverment would not even give a grant of £500 to the Donkey Sanctuary,I was appalled at their lack of feeling when approached. The centre is now run from the UK by the UK Donkey Sanctuary.
A big pat on the back should be given to all those good people who volunteer to help animals in distress in Cyprus...

Alas, it is too much to ask from a country that abandons all common sense in airlifting hundreds of Cypriot students in from god knows where, in order to cast their votes but gives next to nothing when it comes to animal welfare.

well my friends in lemesos have 6 pets and two of which are dogs they take good care of the animals in this area of lemesos everyone seems to have a dog or two. this is the first time ive seen people taking good care of their pets, although there is a person in the area piosoning all the dogs making the people very upset.
once i saw a guy taking his dog for a walk he was in the car driving holding the leesh while dog was walking next to the car. Some people just dont care but some do. not just in cyprus ive seen the same sort of thing in the uk

i dated a british girl who was a pet rescue person who had many calls of pupies being left to die in the high ways, very sad thing to see indeed but what can u do?

Quite right Purdey, and a few quid in the donations box would help too.

well according to my friends that live in lemesos the guy who poisons them cant stand the barking through the day/night so he kills them..

maybe its for other reasons but if thats true it still does not excuse his actions, its stupid

I Had other suspicions, ( His Mrs) not exactly a warm, gentle person despite her proffession.

But if there is a bloke in Limassol then I am not surprised. We were upset for him particularly as we were going to take one of his pups as a companion for our then elderly dog.

You are so right the behaviour is shameful.
