What attributes make a good Ruler for today's Modern World?

..... and may the best man win tomorrow

The term "ruler" suggests supreme authority. The nature of man requires "checks and balances." Therefore, there's no place for rulers in "today's Modern World."

You have your blinkers on again

The dictionary definition of a Ruler is a person who rules or governs.
(Use of capitals merely to discourage juveniles wishing to digress to measuring sticks.)

By merely giving someone the authority to govern with checks and balances, they also rule .... so whether you like it or not there is a place for Rulers in the modern world.

If you don't like my slant on Ruler ... pick another:

Roget's .... ruler
Definition: boss
Synonyms: adjudicator, big shot, boss, captain, chief, chieftain, commander, controller, crowned head, director, emperor, empress, governor, head, king, kingpin, leader, lord, manager, master, mastermind, monarch, patriarch, potentate, prince, princess, queen, reeve, regent, senior, sovereign

In the Modern World, who uses the term ruler? ... but okay, I'll play your game :D : one who does her best, continually seeks to improve herself, looks out for the people she is responsible for, and recognizes that everyone is in this together for the benefit of humankind.

For someone who reveals private information on a public forum without permission, invents a litany of excuses to cover her sorry butt and then refuses to apologise .......

I suggest the best course of action is for you to hide quietly in a corner and eat some humble pie before you start acting high and mighty blister-brain.

You have proven well ... you have nothing to contribute to this thread, so do the respectful thing and scoot, without further attention seeking.

Geez, Oracle ... always on the defensive. It's just a manner of expression alluding to the fact that you started the thread, so I'll capitulate, and answer your question despite the connotation or denotation of "ruler" in the "Modern World."

Is that a question or statement?

If it's a question, then the answer is no (I should have written "I have capitulated and have answered ... "). :D
