Choosing between the two!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Piratis » Sun Feb 24, 2008 11:49 pm

For those that voted for Kasoulides in the first round: When you reject the center, the result will be one of the two extremes and it might not be the extreme that you like. Keep this in mind for the next elections.

How about for once to support a candidate from the center, instead of attacking the center all the time and then expect the center to always side with you in the second round? The AKEL is as big as DISY and yet this was the first time they had their own candidate. Maybe DISY should take a lesson from them and stop acting with the greedy way they have acted all these years.

Also I would suggest to you to kick Anastasiades out the soonest. The man has tricked everybody. He tricked DIKO during their last partnership, he tricked EDEK by promising to them they would support Omirou for president and then switching, he even tried to trick the supporters of his own party to say "yes" in the referendum. It is time to say good bye to him. Just a suggestion.

Your question is irrelevant! The two cases are not comparable!

WHy is is irrelevant Kifeas? Why where you so shocked and horrified at the Hellenic flags and yet you have not uttered one word at the Red flags, the CCCP flags, the Che Guevara Flags, the Cuban flags and the Venezuelan flags?

WHy is it irrelevant Kifeas? We're all anxious to hear.

Because they do not carry the same connotations as the Greek flags do in our case! Because the few Che Guevara banners (I haven't seen any Cuban or Venezuelan flags) were not there instead of the RoC flags, like the case of Greek flags in the other scenario! Because the few other flags -besides the thousands of Cypriot flags and some Greek ones, do not send the same negative messages to the other Communities in Cyprus! Because even the TC leftists in the north do carry Che Guevara flags, and at least there just one common symbol that both GCs and TCs will carry, even if this is Che Guevara’s face! Because ...Because ...Because! Becausue it is not the same!

Their win was last week. Today we just managed to minimize the loss by choosing the "yesno" instead of the "yes". ;)

Do you really think we would come and reward those that asked the people to vote "yes" in the referendum Miltiades? What message that would send? Personally I think those people should have resigned. They didn't, and thats their right, but they can't expect to rule Cyprus today when just a few years ago they were willing to sell us out despite knowing full well that the majority of the people was against that plan.

DT. I hope Kifeas gives you your answer ...

But take it from an old lady ... I had the obligatory Che poster as a student, I happily had Greek and Cypriot flags at different stages too ...

It is like branding ... they set a mood, identified an ephemeral feeling... no one flag truly covers all our feelings as Humans all the time.

The important thing is we love our country ... do right by its people and like ships can hoist a different flag depending on the message to be conveyed for that moment.

Today, it is about rejoicing in an outcome, which let's face it, the majority have finally chosen.

Check the Republics consitution. Respect to the cutlural heritage of the people of this country both Turkish and Greek. I don't remember CCCP flags being part of this.

Congratulations everyone. We've been re-formatted to a nauseating scale, when a flag that denotes our cultural and ethnic background can make so many of you sick to your stomachs, and close your eyes to the xenomania brought in by those you support.
I can remember the struggles Che had on behalf of the Cypriot people.!

Respect to our country's flag, but while across the green line they're draping themselves in their Turkish flags and Pac-Man flashes on our mountain night after night our Neo-Cypriots take offence to a Hellenic symbol.

This is what we've become, the Cypriot people deserve all they get. And now you may feel free to quote after VP and remind me of EOKA B and all the other negative images this symbol brings you, while I try to explain to my son what the hell is a CCCP flag and why our president seems to identify with it.

Why all the speculation lets give the man a chance to see if he brings anything new to the table or will he play it safe like his predecessor papadope.

Thats right Piratis, why stop there? I voted no as well but I can name at least 4 people in my family that voted yes. I remeber that day, one of them said "whatever I vote i fear I will regret it, I don't know what tomorrow will bring for either one of these decisions.."

Why don't we round them up as well Piratis and make sure they will never have a political career in this country? Maybe we can insert a microchip in their arm to be able to identify them.

WHEREN'T YOU THE ONE THAT ASKED A FEW POSTS AGO "WHY CAN'T WE RESPECT DEMOCRACY?"

I'll teach you a little something about democracy Piratis, you respect the loser more than the winner. He's the one you need to bring across.
