Which Village?

Which Village?

Postby kafenes » Sat Feb 23, 2008 12:32 am

On one of my quests for new classic car rally routes, I went past this village. I have always thought of this village as very picturesque even though I never had the chance to get out of the car to chat to the locals.
Can you name this village??

It does remind me of Ayios Theodoros , nr. Skarinou, Larnaca District or Mari. But I havent been to neither since 1962,

Kafenes, yo do like these games and I like getting them wrong.

Kafenes,I can guess that the village would have a Greek-sounding name,such as 'Troodos' or 'Kyrenia'.As to this particular village's name,I haven't a clue,I'm afraid.Is it Pyla?

Deniz, you are not too far!
BTW I rememberr reading somewhere that they are moving Mari village and rehousing the occupants in Zygi because of the harmful atmosphere created by the cement factory. I hope I got this right. :?

No Deniz. I am working on the other computer (music work stuff) and now and then I pop in to see what's happening.

Well, I got it near enough, so I am happy. I can smell the soil. Pity about Mari though.

The only other name I can remember in similar terrain is Kalavassos. I will have to find a route map for the rally.

You won't find a rally route map unless I give you one. I am the one organising the rallies. :)
It used to be a mixed village and probably a rich one too by the looks of the buildings. It is the first time I have seen three storey stone buildings built right by the side of a 'river'. The GC part of the village has been restored to it's original state but unfortunately the TC part of the village has been neglected as no one lives in these houses.

I found some 2006 Rally maps centering around Limasol. No village names at all. Any village east of Maroni, I have no idea. You mentioned the river. Miltiades had a nice map on his wall, wish I knew the quiz was coming.
