How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The grape variety is Syrah, not Shiraz. The Australians mixed up the carpet making town of Persia (Shiraz) with the grape variety. And no, it is not a sub variety of Cabernet. And you are all wrong, I am not a wine snob. But I do like the stuff!!!!

Has anyone tried the Cypriot grown Syrah wines yet? Reports are favorable but here in Greece we cannot get any Cypriot wine or spirits except Koumandaria, which is not for serious drinking. We get French wines at about half the price of Greek wines, a bonus of the EU!

About a third of all Ausralian reds are from the grape called Shiraz which is of the Syrah variety of grapes , but with its own unique flavour.
We must start a wine thread , as Filitsa says this thread ia about Turkey and it's disastrous so far adventure into Iraq.

Nikitas, I am just reading the labels off the bottles. I buy two Shiraz wines, one explained by Miltiades and the other I read off the bottle.

Here is something I learned many years ago and have never forgotten it. No is not on Google or Yahoo !!
Wine , like wheat , is one of the oldest cultivated plants known to man , wine being the most prestigious by the virtue of the fact that you cant invite someone around for a glass of wheat !!
Wine was associated with Gods both in ancient Rome and Greece , and it was how the ancient Olympian Gods
sought pleasure and consolation in the pleasure of drinking wine .
And it is how I , Miltiades , seek solace and comfort in a glass or two of red ..

Well good luck to them, i hope some day they will manage to demolish the PKK scum for good.

Im sure some GC's would be sad to see their buddies being bombed to pieces.

Shah boasting about bombing people is not a joking matter. Mate if you stop for a minute and think what is the difference between what your community is fighting for and what the Kurdish people are fighting for?

The Cypriot situation is difficult enough without bringing the Kurds into the equation. The TCs desire to live in peace without being under the Hellenist yoke.

Yeah, but you'd think that TCs would support the Kurds but it's not in their interests...
