Lebanon's Daily Star on Cyprus

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Yeah, right. I think it is a complete joke that you think that I am blinkered! I am trying to see things from all perspectives and trying to come to logical conclusions on the way to move forward. One has to accept their own wrongs before moving on. Have you accepted that your community has its shere of responsibility for how Cyprus has ended up?

We are not exactly whiter than white so obviously we must accept some of the blame. But wouldn't be better to get on with negotiations ASAP rather than accusing one another that you did this we did that, you killed this many, you invaded in 1571 etc etc. Lets leave the past in the past and work for the future.

That is basically what the report is saying and you guys are slaughtering the man for saying it.

I'm not slaughtering the man. I am simply pointing out that the group he represents are listened to and respected and simply rubbishing what he says does not do any good. What needs to be done is to ADDRESS this situation we are facing. I personally think he has oversimplified the situation and that he is ignoring some of the basic fears of the GC's which need to be addressed in any future solution. Its not all just about getting Turkeys EU path on track at the expense of Cyprus.

In any case, negotiations do need to start and they need to start soon.

I think the Daily Star owes us an explanation why they changed that word! Is there some media ethics organization I can inform about Daily Star's sneaky word substitution ? Did they obtain Hugh Pope's permission before doing so ? :P
