Good for you orok. Was that approach, or landing if you like normal or was is too low and perhaps a mistake by the pilot? Looking at the video clip over and over again I think if a lorry or a high vehicle would have made contact. Do they have traffic restrictions for high vehicles?

Sorry with the questions but I'm amazed this airport is operational with such a runway so close to buildings, beach and traffic.

I've stayed at the Maho as well. That's pretty much a normal approach. The planes are at 15 feet or so over the beach as they land. I'm not sure about height requirements for cars around the road. For all intents and purposes, if you see that thing coming at you, you hit your brakes real hard.

Anyway, watching the planes take off is equally interesting. Getting that hot blast of air and sand. Although, 757s are harder to watch because the engines are closer together and create a more focused windblast (or something like that).

Here's another 747 landing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1YHn9c3 ... re=related

I think you'll find that the roadway that passes between the runway and the beach is closed (by traffic lights) when an aircraft is making its final approach.
It's pretty cool sitting on Mackenzie Beach in Larnaca too
