New Govt

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Anyone who compromises the rights of 200,000 GC refugees and accepts a plan for referendum that does not allow all those refugess to return to their homes and at the same time advocating for government land in the north to be made available to TC to build their homes and start their new life in the north is not worth voting for, communist or non communist.

On the 24th of April 2004, Kofi Anan and Alvaro De Soto, acting as willful agents of Turkey, have placed in front of us a despicable plan which in a very discreet but no uncertain way adopted the positions of Turkey on the "solution" of the Cyprus issue. Among the provisions of this plan was the effective institutional eradication of the Greek Cypriot community's 3,500 years old collective historical and cultural heritage and existentialist rights, from 50% of its own country.

One of the two candidates, Mr. Kasoulides, has willfully accepted this plan and acted as its sales agent among the Greek Cypriot society.

The other, Mr. Christofias, even though at the beginning was reluctant, he eventually rejected this plan.

Who is more Greek from the two?

Of all people on this forum , you KIFEAS , SURPRISE ME !!
How on earth can Cyprus have a Communist president , how will the West and Europe view Cyprus from here on , an island , 40 % occupied by a fiercely loyal American supporter and the REST with a communist president . Ask yourself the question while refraining from your trade mark sarcastic posts on this matter . Will the image of Cyprus and the legitimate efforts to avert partition benefit or suffer from having comrade Christofias as a President. That IS the question Think about it !

Miltiades, it is obvious that I do not share your prejudices and fixations, nor your assumptions and fears! I even find them bordering the sphere of paranoia, to a large extent! As evidence to it, if what you constantly preach all along since last Sunday had any basis of validity, those you are referring to as not to be in favor of the idea that a “communist” might be the next president of Cyprus, i.e. the west, US, UK, the EU, etc, would have already expressed their dislike and would have even tried to influence the result! Something like this did not happen! It seems to me that you are essentially behaving as “more royalist than the king himself!”

If you want to argue and explain to us why Kasoulides might be a better choice than Christofias, please go ahead and do so; rather than pumping negative, outdated and parochial aphorisms, an outcome of your own very personal fixations and prejudices!

My dear Kifeas , surely you must have noticed that I have not been influnced by personal " prejudices " but by my strong belief that a communist as a President of the ROC will be a loose cannon ball in the International world that we so much value and respect their position as to the legality of the "TRNC" No single nation in the free world will take Cyprus , with a communist president , seriously let alone support our position . We must rely on the reluctance of the influential nations to recognise the "TRNC" and such reluctance will diminish come Sunday if a communist leader is elected . Kassoulides might be a much less competent president , might even be less intelligent , but he ain't a bloody communist , and that Mr Kifeas is the crux of the matter . Lets not kid ourselves , a Christofias win will herald the beginning of the end of our dream for a united Cyprus , the "TRNC" will be recognised shortly afterwards starting with the "bloody " Americans , and once again the Cypriot nation having instigated the inevitable by sheer ignorance will join voices and condemn the bloody Americans . WE THE CYPRIOTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR FUTURE , NOBODY ELSE .
You know Im right Kifeas , admit it !
