Well, some days it's the British dividing and ruling.

Other days its the Turks arriving in 1571 and killing GCs until the British arrived. If this is true there is no need for British to divide and rule, division already exists.

I dont agree mate. This is Britains legacy we are dealing with. The brits new what they were doing when they turned us against each other. They left us with a constitution that wasnt workable and now every Cypriot is paying for it.

Sorry, you may not have noticed, but there are people on this forum that wish to take us back to the middle ages to show how nasty Turks are. Pointless, since the actions of people in the middle of the 16th Century have little bearing on where we are today.

However, I also don't agree that it was all Britain/Greece/Turkey/America's fault (I know George didn't say that but it won't take him long to track down someone in this forum who blames these countries singly or in almost any combination). Until Cypriots start taking responsibility for their own actions over the last half century or so we are going nowhere.

Now teach that to those Turks that have ethnically cleansed 200,000 Greek Cypriots from their homes ....

LOL! Does that make any sense to you?

Specially coming from you!

They didn't get rid of the Maronite's, and we have plenty of foreigners here, so what do you think is it that makes you so special?

Attempted genocide springs to mind but than that's just me.

Exactly .....

Turkey has made us special ... by specifically picking on the ethnic Greek Cypriots to eradicate from the north. Such specific singling out of a group of people as Turkey has done to the GCs ...... is what most people would understand as racism ...

Any concomitant hate of the enemy that treats as in that way is not racism but an understandable reaction to having been victimised.

It is you who is still not clear on who is demonstrating racism to this day (Turkey) and who is the victim who hates the enemy.

No matter what you say Purdey the Brits created the problem. They were supposed to be our guarantors yet they sat back and let Turkey invade. I guess they were guaranteeing that Turkey could take half the island. Britain got what they wanted their bases.

You say you helped the south grow. How's that then by making money of the suffering of the GC's after the war. Typical Brits use every situation to line your own pocket.

The Brits are still making things worse by buying GC land in the North. Well if there is a solution I hope they throw them to the sea. Buying cheap stolen land.

How dare you say we made money off poor Cypriots. My family gave work to poor Cypriots, they helped refugees from Famagusta,as well as helping Turkish Cypriots.
We have a clear concience as far as helping Cyprus.I find your comments regarding my family very offensive.Maybe we should meet when I next visit Cyprus,I will be based in Lemessos.

zan, then maybe you should have taken 18% of an island and not almost half of it... 18% probably would have been recognised ages ago....

The hell it would have.....The talks have always centered around the 30% anyway. I ahve no idea how much is needed to make it work so it is pointless pulling numbers out of the air. I would have been happier if the talks after the first push were successful and the TCs were allowed back into government but alas they were not.
