The only Tumour is Turkey.
Greece is an EU partner with whom we have to work with towards a solution for Cyprus ... much as we have to work with France, Germany, etc.

You all speak english so why not become the 53rd state come on join the US it would make life so much easier. You would get rid of all the extra change you now have and gat a dollar bill back and the Turks wouldn't be dealing in the millions only in cents. You are all pretty much Americanized or Britishized (?) anywys. So get reallllll...

Hristofias is already on record for saying that he wouldn't have done things any differently to Tpapa...so what is the point?????
We need an interim solution which will give us enough time and opportunity to build trust and understanding, and hopefully some empathy and compassion for each other. A workable BBF with a strong Central government, where people learn to work and live together without an emphasis on ethnic background...And hopefully sometime down the line we do just the opposite of the recent historical trend of separations, and vote to reunite our beloved country in a civilised, democratic, fair and just way...But I feel obliged to give this warning...If things do not happen rather quickly, the same rot will set in,and those who would rather see us divided will get the opportunity to put the knife in...And we will have to wait for another 5 years at least to find another leader who can move forward....So time is of essence,we must move fast...
Moving fast would be the idea. The danger you have is that a trigger happy Talat is anxious to have the negotiations and finish them off asap so as to announce to the world that "we've tried for the last time and failed, now lets move with partition."
This was the reason Papadopoulos would never agree to a timetable, because Talat would be too tempted to let the timetable run its course and declare the talks a failure.
Zan....have a look at Birs post above yours and then re-read your post.
I shouldn't be answering this now..I am late and must hit the road but perhaps the words "The more I think about it" from Bir should tell you something about what I said....What was he doing all this time????? Gotta go!!!
What I was doing ,Zan,was trying to find a sensible way to get us from the status quo to the Unified Republic Of Cyprus where people are not disadvantaged or punished for their ethnic backgrounds...Tpapa was admittedly making things very difficult for me,but now I can see a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel...You know that I believe the status quo is moral, ethical and cultural suicide for our community...And I do see "mindless, unthinking nationalism" as the greatest evil that has ever visited mankind (and womankind too!)...A bit like the CANCER in the topic of this thread..
