BYE-BYE DOPOULOS: FIVE YEARS OF DARKNESS OVER

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Anastasiades has shown himself to be a real statesman, perhaps the best in Cyprus. He does not mince his words and he is very honest. He always tells his opinion without a regard for any political cost. He supported the solution in 2004 despite strong inter party opposition. He leads the people rather than be led by the people.

Kasoulides, Anastasiades and Christofias should work for a compromise solution because we are faced by partition. I will not site the obvious shortcomings of partition but this time I will tell the cynics of another, more important reason, why partition must be avoided at all costs.

I long to live in a free and united Cyprus with my Turkish Cypriot compatriots, friends and brothers, as equal partners. The Cyprus I long for is a multi cultural, multi ethnic country, a bridge of friendship between Greece and Turkey. We should forget the past and look to a happy, bright future, within our united Europe. Papadopoulos constantly spread fear into the soul of people and tried to turn them into phobic and spineless creatures. Those of us that stood against him and his methods were ridiculed and warned, even, that we stood to lose our jobs and dignity, because "he was the elected lord and no one had the right to question him". Thank God this mentality is over now and we can breath the fresh air of change.

Piratis and Kifeas and the rest of Papadopoulos's supporters. You can criticise the new President for as much as you like. I have no problem with this. Criticism is health and this is what has contributed to the improvement of the human race. I will never tell you to stop expressing your opinion because you are in the minority. I think, this is the time to talk louder, if you felt like it.

Why you didn't support Kasoulides then??

Kasoulides, Anastasiades and Christofias should work for a compromise solution because we are faced by partition. I will not site the obvious shortcomings of partition but this time I will tell the cynics of another, more important reason, why partition must be avoided at all costs.

I guess you had a different result in mind when you where preparing the above statement. Aparently the biggest losers of this first round of election is not Papadopoulos, but the fanatic "yes" supporters.

Christofias and Papadopoulos will work for a solution, just like they did during the past 4.5 years. That, or substitute Christofias for Kasoulides in the above sentence. As Christofias said in his speech today, a bad solution will bring partition.

Papadopoulos and the great majority of people want a united, peaceful, multi cultural, and multi ethnic country, but they also want a true democracy where all people will be equal without racist discriminations. If people didn't want this, then we wouldn't have elections and democracy today.

How would you feel Bananiot if DIKO which represents about 18% of the people, was given 50% of the power? How would you feel that although most people would have voted for somebody else, Papadopoulous would get to be the president anyways due to some undemocratic system? Do you think you would be able to calmly accept this?

Piratis and Kifeas and the rest of Papadopoulos's supporters. You can criticise the new President for as much as you like. I have no problem with this. We will talk as loud as you talked. Nobody ever silenced you. At the same time though we will do one more thing that you didn't: We will respect the democratic choice of the Cypriot people and we will not try to destroy the whole of Cyprus out of bitterness just because the "stupid" Cypriots didn't do what we the "smart" ones told them to do.

You are such a loser Piratis. You could not bear to say I[color=red] long to live in a free and united Cyprus with my Turkish Cypriot compatriots, friends and brothers, like Bananiot. Be a man and utter those words Piratis, instead of 'multicultural'. What are you afraid of. Eat some humble pie. It will go a long way towards any re-conciliation - if you mean it. Then I will call you my brother, compatriot and friend.

I will not waste my time commenting on your previous nonsense, only to let you know that Erdogan was cheering the outcome of the elections.

So that I will let others see what a fool you are, I will remind them that what you have stated above, is not what the TCs and their patron Turkey want! What Turkey and the TCs want is not their political equality as a community, but instead to grand them the ownership of 50% of Cyprus's territory and accept that it is their "inherited" homeland, and from then on to accept what we will gift them (i.e. 50% of our country as their own territory,) as a politically equal constituent state in a virgin birth confederated approach, to replace the eradicated RoC!

This is what they want! This is what Denktash wanted! This is what Talat wants! This is what Turkey wants! This is what Erdogan wants! And this what you apparently want us to accept, my dear lunatic!

i would not call DISY right nor extreme right ...they are conservatives ,they focus on business and if they do it next week they will take us forward ...

i would rather them than the cenre corrupt diko and morons of akel ...both of whom consduct themselves with the honour of south american hunta ....$2million fund in giti went missing in akel hands in the last 5 years ....

lets also be honest ...most greek flag wavers do so cos they are from families who are apoel ,anorthorsis etc fans .... they vote for what they have been taught to vote for since childhood ..

p.s in my near 4 years in cyprus ...never met a greek flag/conservative i didnt like and i am very unbiased but nearly every commie and diko guy i met reeked of corruption or presented me with the worse traits of society .i always voted labour in the UK and democrats in the U.S

but in cyprus it seems AKEL /commies are just that until they actually need to do what they say ...the trade unions in cyprus are useless ...i have helped more under paid and under privallaged people then the laranca akel chapter .whose main focus is promoting che carrrea discussions

as if they would produce a generation of community workers in this selfish society of cyprus ...

as if

denizaksulu, my friends are those who care about me and respect me, regardless of their ethnic background.

I would be very happy to have as compatriots and friends people like Kikapu and Bir who respect me and accept to be equal to me without racist discriminations. But I would definitely not consider somebody that wants to take away my human and democratic rights as a friend.

I hear that from tomorrow Bananiot will change his signature to this:

Erdogan: I thank God the Greek Cypriots didn't vote for Papadopoulos.

See, we agree because what I say makes perfect sense. You wouldn't want as a friend somebody who doesn't respect your human and democratic rights, and I wouldn't either.
