Turkey cautious about kosovo independance???

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I reckon that northern Cyprus should be declared independent from Turkey,& be encouraged to reunite with southern Cyprus to re-establish a reunited Cyprus. The Cypriot Constitution would need to be changed to establish a federal system. All 3 languages should be recognised as official.

The British Commonwealth should be involved in the process of reuniting Cyprus as well as the U.N.

Kosovo is now legally an independent state under the name 'Republic of Kosovo'.Let's hope that Somaliland's independence will eventually be recognised as well.

Go Kurdistan!

Go Talibania!

Go Basque-ia

You are willing to give us recognition for that.......How fickle are you????

You forget something important Zan... the "TRNC" is the ONLY entity declared illegal by the world's highest authority! Even a little 2x4 rock in the middle of the ocean with a sole penguin sitting on it has better chances of recognition than the "TRNC"!

You're forgetting something, my little chickadee... those resolutions are not a mandatory order for non-recognition of TRNC, they only ask UN member nations not to recognize. Therefore, with Kosovo's UDI about to be acknowledged, it gives less emphasis to your precious resolutions... and don't forget this either: the votes that got the resolutions passed were NOT unaminous.

Cyprus rejects Kosovo declaration
19 February 2008 | 19:04 | Source: B92, Beta
NICOSIA -- Cyprus has today officially condemned the ethnic Albanians' unilateral declaration of independence.

A Foreign Ministry statement says that Nicosia views this move as a violation of Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The announcement comes one day after an EU ministerial meeting in Brussels, unable to come up with a joint policy over recognizing Kosovo, leaving it instead to its member states to decide individually.

And while some large European countries such as France, the UK and Italy have decided to recognize Kosovo with record speed, despite Serbia's position that both the declaration and its recognition are illegal, Cyprus held its ground on the issue.

"This act of secession falls outside of the framework of international law, and is therefore null and void," official Nicosia said.

The statement, which can be viewed as strong support for Belgrade's position, adds that this EU member also considers the declaration in breach of the UN Charter, the Helsinki Final Act and UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

"We are certain that a final status solution agreed on by both sides can and must be reached through dialogue and negotiations, and then approved by the Security Council, the body that has the role of maintaining peace and security," the statement concluded.
