I always floor the gas pedal the second I am past the bloody camera. In the north the lowest speeding fine you can get is around 60 euro. I once got a pulled over for doing 165 in a 65 zone . People in Cyprus really do drive too fast! 90 % of Mercedes and BMW drivers , drive as if they own the bloody road.

Can you tell me the speeding limits in the North, if they are different to that of the South, and if the police use similar techniques. Do you use euros in the occupied areas?

Officail currency is the Turkish Lira but the Euro, Sterling and US dolars are used everywhere.

Eg: When buying a house the price is always in GBP
When buying a second hand japanese import car the price is in GBP
When buying a new car the price is in euro
The only thing we use TL for is at the supermaket .

The speed limits are; 50 - 65 - 75 (new) - 100

Police always park there cars and wait with their radars in places where everyone drives over the limit, but drivers usually flash their head lights to let you know there are cops ahead. On average I get two tickets a year.

Well we do fund them ... there should be some perks

I hate those yellow safety jackets they have to wear sometimes .... Blooming EU bureaucracy ruining our fun!
