The conservatives will not win albeit though labour will lose some of its majority.

Hi all,

I agree with brother on this one. Funnily enough, the latest poles put
the Conservatives and Labour as level-pegging. What do you read into this?
Also, does anyone here think the UK should adopt a proportional representation system for general elections?

I recon there could be a few surprises in this election. Many people are quietly annoyed with labour. I did not appreciate their raid on my pension fund and all the back-door taxes they have raised.

As a Greek Cypriot...im not voting. This country has always screwed over the Greek Cypriots with regards to Cyprus and they are doing it still by being for the N Cyprus adverts...even the ones that are thrust in our faces in Palmers Green, Wood Green etc.

The last labour government in power told Turkey to invade Cyprus and this one is still pro Turkey...and whats the next best thing? Having the Conservative leader in power, who's a Jew...yeah, like thats gonna be good for us.

I serious think all Greek Cypriots should make a stand and not vote.

How is the system in the UK?
Would it be possible to have GCs make some kind of collision with other minority groups and elect a PM?

I dont think so really...the GC are a bit of unrepresented group with regards to the media in this country. Its silly, aparently being ethnic in this country means your either black, asian or muslim.

...and with this government being so PRO these N Cyprus adverts and not even taking into consideration that they are put up in the neigbourhods of refugees, I defenetly am not voting for labour and dont think id vote for the Conservatives either. I might vote for the liberal democrats but most of me just doesn't want to vote. The GC should make more of a stand and a voice in this country. Look at the asians and muslims, they get what ever they want....especially the asians, you should see how much representation they get in the media.

It would be possible for the GC's to have an independent candidate for the elections. There are constituencies in London where they form a majority so if a GC's stood for election they could just get enough votes to become an MP. Now that would be interesting, having an independent voice in the House of Commons.

How about it Main_Source?

I think us GC's in the UK are too wrapped up in our own little world to bother too much about politics unfortunately.

Mikke, your right there. The GC are a bit too tight nit at times and dont take an interest in the effect this country is having on Cyprus. I dont think a GC MP would achieve that much in this country...look at the work Pauline Green MP did...as much as I thank her for the time an effort she put into the Cyprus cause...where did it get us? At the end of the day, its the powers at the top who make the important decisions.

I do not believe England is pro turkish or pro greek. This is a stupid notion that biased and clueless people use in their effort to understand the complex world in which we live. In fact, conspiracy theories are used mainly by idiots who do not have the mental capacity to understand complex issues and in our part of the world such people are not a few. That is one of our main problems regarding our leaders who also lack vision and can only see as far as their nose. The notion that Britain is our enemy (Christofias used the word diaxronika - someone translate please, I cannot find the english word right now- during a talk while in Brittain!) is historically unfounded. If we look at history, we possibly owe a lot to Britain, but to arrive at a safe conclussion one must remove the blinds, the prejudice, first.
